I’ve watched a lot of SEO courses on Udemy over the years, and one thing I’ve learned is that choosing a course based only on its star rating is a mistake.
SEO changes too quickly for that.
A course can have thousands of students and a high rating while still spending most of its time showing where to click inside an SEO tool. On the other hand, a smaller course can be much more useful when it teaches you how to actually approach a keyword, audit a website, interpret data, or solve a real SEO problem.
That is the approach I used for this Udemy SEO Course Review.
If you're still comparing different learning platforms, our guide to the best SEO courses online in 2026 looks beyond Udemy and compares a wider range of SEO training options.
I looked at the current course curriculum, update date, learner feedback, practical coverage, and the specific skill each course is trying to teach. I also looked at discussions from SEO communities, where one recurring point stood out: learning SEO is not just about collecting tactics. Search intent, useful content, technical quality, data analysis, and actually working on websites matter much more than memorizing isolated tricks.
I also deliberately left out several popular Udemy courses that already appear heavily in competing “best Udemy SEO courses” articles. I’d rather bring you a less repetitive selection than recycle the same seven courses everyone else is already listing.

CoursesMag Community Rating — the collective rating submitted by CoursesMag readers based on their own experience with the course.

1. 50-Point Website SEO Audit

Most general SEO courses eventually get to SEO audits, but very few make the audit itself the backbone of the course.
This one does.
The current version contains 18 sections, 71 lectures, and just over five hours of video. It was updated in August 2026 and currently has a 4.6/5 rating from 213 ratings, with more than 17,000 students.
Want to get better at diagnosing real SEO problems instead of just learning more SEO theory? This course takes a practical, audit-first approach that you can apply directly to websites.
Explore the 50-Point Audit CourseThe course teaches a 50-point audit framework covering crawling, indexing, accessibility, duplicate content, keyword research, speed, mobile SEO, analytics and other common problems. It also includes templates and examples rather than stopping at theoretical explanations.
For learners who want to go deeper into the technical side of SEO, we’ve also reviewed the best technical SEO courses separately.

My Take
I’ve watched enough Udemy SEO courses to become very skeptical of courses that promise dozens of “SEO secrets” but never teach you how to diagnose a real website.
That is why I like the approach here.
An audit gives you a reason for every task. You are not simply learning what a canonical tag is; you are learning where it fits into a broader diagnosis.
For me, that makes this much closer to how SEO actually works in practice.
And this is one of the reasons I would put it at #1 in this particular list. I don’t think an SEO course needs to be the longest course on Udemy to be useful. It needs to teach something you can take directly to a website and use.
2. SEO Audit – Find & Fix The Most Common SEO Issues On A Site

This course is even more focused than the previous one.
Joshua George’s training is built around performing a manual SEO audit from start to finish. The current version has 34 lectures across nine sections and 3 hours 40 minutes of video. It was updated in September 2026 and has a 4.5/5 rating from 961 ratings.

My Take
I’ve watched a lot of SEO courses that spend an enormous amount of time explaining basic concepts and almost no time showing how an SEO actually works through a problem.
This course is much closer to the second category.
What I especially like is the workflow. You start with the website, find an issue, understand why it matters, and then fix it.
That is how I prefer to learn SEO myself, and it is one of the reasons this gets a 4.6/5 from me.
3. SEO & AI SEO Course 2026: Rank #1 on Google & AI Results

This course takes a more traditional SEO curriculum and adds AI search on top of it.
The current version contains 41 lectures and 2 hours 50 minutes of content. It was updated in June 2026 and currently has a 4.6/5 rating from 209 ratings, with more than 1,500 students.
SEO is changing, and traditional search is no longer the whole picture. This course is worth a look for anyone who wants to connect core SEO principles with AI search and GEO without committing to a 20-hour program.

My Take
I’ve watched plenty of courses where “AI SEO” simply means adding a couple of ChatGPT videos to an otherwise unchanged SEO course.
That does not impress me.
What makes this one more interesting is that AI search is integrated into the broader curriculum rather than being treated as a random bonus topic.
Still, I would not use a two-hour course as my entire SEO education. For me, this is a strong modern introduction, not the final course someone should ever need.
4. Keyword Research From Scratch: Unlock New SEO Opportunities

Most SEO courses devote a section or two to keyword research.
This one builds the entire curriculum around it.
Anton Voroniuk’s course currently has 38 lectures and 2 hours 55 minutes of content, with 57,000+ students and a 4.4/5 rating from 578 ratings. It was updated in March 2026.
Keyword research is much more than finding phrases with high search volume. See how this course approaches intent, semantic relationships, clustering, and competitor research in a focused format.

My Take
This is one of those courses where the narrower scope is actually a benefit.
I’ve personally gone through a lot of SEO training where keyword research gets reduced to “open Ahrefs, enter a seed keyword, sort by volume.”
That is not keyword research.
The useful part is understanding why a keyword belongs on a page, what intent sits behind it, how competitors are targeting it, and how keywords should eventually be clustered into a site structure.
That is much closer to the way I approach keyword research professionally, so I think this course deserves a place in this list even though it doesn’t try to teach all of SEO.
5. Best SEO Course Ever: 2026 Masterclass by Assoc. Professor

Despite the title, this is not why I included the course.
What caught my attention was the actual curriculum.
The current version has 124 lectures across 15 sections and 28 hours 42 minutes of video. It was updated in April 2026. Udemy currently shows a 4.9/5 rating, although that score comes from only 157 ratings and about 216 students, so I would treat the rating more cautiously than a score supported by thousands of reviews.
Looking for one course that covers a large part of the SEO landscape? This long-form masterclass brings technical SEO, content, analytics, local search, and strategy together in a single learning path.
View the Full SEO MasterclassThe curriculum covers technical audits, indexing, canonical tags, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, local SEO, keyword research, internal linking, content strategy, competitor research and Search Console/Analytics.

Pros
- Extremely broad curriculum
- Technical SEO and site architecture
- Search intent and keyword research
- Content and topical authority
- GSC and Analytics
- Local SEO
- Updated in 2026
Cons
- Very long
- Small learner sample compared with major Udemy courses
- Some subjects inevitably receive less depth because the curriculum covers so much

My Take
This is where I think Udemy learners need to be careful with ratings.
A 4.9/5 looks fantastic, but when there are only 157 ratings, I personally don’t put the same weight on that number as I would on a similarly high rating backed by thousands of learners.
I’ve watched enough online courses to know that a long curriculum can create the illusion of depth.
What I like here is that the breadth is actually meaningful. The course connects technical SEO, content, authority, analytics and site structure instead of simply adding random bonus modules.
That’s why I still rate it highly—but not as highly as the Udemy rating itself might suggest.
6. SEMRush Keyword Research Course 2026: 10x Your Traffic Now!

This is a specialist course rather than a complete SEO education.
It contains 25 lectures across six sections and 4 hours 43 minutes of content. It was updated in June 2026 and currently has a 4.6/5 rating from 184 ratings.
Already using Semrush but feel like you're only scratching the surface? This course goes beyond the interface and focuses on turning Semrush data into actual keyword decisions.
Put Semrush to WorkThe curriculum covers keyword metrics, search intent, existing keywords, Google Search Console, SERP features, competitive keyword research, and case studies involving B2B SaaS, ecommerce and an online education platform.

I would not recommend this as someone’s first SEO course.
But that’s not really its job.
I’ve used and watched enough SEO training around tools to know that there is a big difference between learning a tool and learning SEO.
What I like here is that the instructor doesn’t simply walk through Semrush menus. The course connects the tool to search intent, existing rankings, competitors and actual keyword decisions.
That’s the right direction.
7. Complete Local SEO Course: Google Business Profile 2026

This is the specialist local SEO option in our list.
The course currently contains 80 lectures across 19 sections and 7 hours 23 minutes of video. It was updated in February 2026 and has a 4.7/5 rating from only 12 ratings, despite having more than 2,600 students.
Working with local businesses? This course moves beyond general SEO and focuses on the parts that matter most for local visibility, from Google Business Profile and Maps to local keywords and citations.

My Take
Local SEO is one area where I don’t think a generic SEO course is enough.
I’ve worked with local businesses myself, and the reality is that optimizing a local business is not simply “normal SEO + the city name.” Google Business Profile, Maps visibility, local intent, reviews, citations and location-specific search behavior all become part of the picture.
That is why I think this course makes sense as a specialist supplement.
But I would not choose it as my first and only SEO course.
What My Udemy Experience Tells Me
After watching many SEO courses on Udemy, I think the biggest mistake is trying to find one course that magically turns someone into an SEO professional.
Reddit discussions around SEO learning come to a similar conclusion. Experienced practitioners tend to emphasize learning the fundamentals and then applying them to real websites, using real search data and measuring actual outcomes. One recent discussion specifically emphasized search intent, GA4, GSC and the ability to work with SEO data rather than simply mastering an SEO plugin.
Another recurring community point is that SEO course freshness matters. An older Reddit discussion about Udemy explicitly warned learners to check when a course was released or updated because SEO changes quickly.
That’s exactly why I excluded older courses from this comparison.
Are Udemy SEO Courses Worth It?
For me, yes—but only when you choose them for the right reason.
I wouldn’t buy a Udemy SEO course because the sales page says “#1,” “Ultimate,” or “secret strategy.”
I would buy one because its curriculum solves a specific learning problem.
A beginner needs fundamentals.
Someone doing SEO professionally may need auditing, keyword research or technical SEO.
Not ready to pay for a course yet? You can also explore our guide to the best free SEO courses before deciding where to invest your time and money.
A local-business marketer may need Google Business Profile and Maps.
And someone who already understands traditional SEO may benefit more from AI-search and GEO training.
That is also why I don’t think there is one universally correct Udemy SEO course.
The most useful course depends heavily on what you are trying to learn.
And Udemy isn’t the only marketplace worth considering. We also reviewed the best SEO courses on Coursera for learners who prefer a more structured course format.
